An introduction:
In the
photograph above, a
ghostly-looking cloud drifts over the old, broken-down Comet roller
coaster which still stands on the site of the once-thriving
amusement park in Dartmouth, MA. The photos on
the "Then" page were taken at Lincoln Park in July of 1987, the last
summer before the park closed for good. The "Now" page contains photos
taken on a visit to the park in 1999, twelve years later. The
popular amusement park thrived for many decades, finally closing in late '87. Over the years,
fires have destroyed most of the buildings, but the memories linger on. I remember
my parents taking me there in the 40's and 50's, and I brought my children to the
same park in the 70's and 80's.
